What is Aloe Vera

{short description of image}

Aloe Vera, of which there are over 200 different species, grows mainly in the dry regions of Africa, Asia, Europe and America.

Although Aloe Vera is a member of the Lily family, it is very cactus like in its characteristics. This unique plant also belongs to a larger plant family called Xeroids.

Like most Xeroids, Aloe Vera grows mainly in arid conditions and has a very special chemical make up suitable for its environment.

When damaged it is known to close any wounds to its leaf almost immediately so that the plant does not lose any of its precious life sustaining fluids.

It is probably for this reason that Aloe Vera has gained its reputation as a moisturiser in the cosmetic industry. There is historical documentation that shows Aloe Vera being used as far back as 1500 BC and Aloe Vera is often referred to as the "Miracle Plant" .

Christopher Columbus discovered the benefits of Aloe too, and referred to it as his "Potted Physician".

To use Aloe Vera For internal use as a food supplement most people find that 1-2 Tablets, twice daily, is sufficient.

However, in some cases, practitioners may recommend up to 10 tablets per day.
